The kami, in their vast knowledge, are naturally aware of the two contrasting worlds in existence. They call the one they reside in Kakuriyo, and the other one Utsushiyo.

Indeed, there exists another world than the one they live in. Despite none of them having ever laid eyes on it, there is nary a soul that doubts the fact.

That is because a great many things leak into Kakuriyo from Utsushiyo—ranging from tools, foods, and people, to ones more ominous in nature…

Observation has revealed that these things tend to appear in some places more than in others, and indeed, Yamato has a locale famous for being rich in Utsushiyo culture.
